I'll show you Japanese food culture!!

Setsubun

February 3rd is Setsubun in Japan.

Setsubun is a day on which we throw soy beans in our homes.

Why do we do that ?

Because it is said that there is a Japanese ogre, called an "Oni", in out homes, and we should get it out!

After that, we eat the same number of soy beans as our age number.

It is said that we can live long because of this.

When did this custom?

It started about 300 years ago.

That is why, when I was a kinder garden student, an Oni came to my class LOL.

It was my teacher, but I was scared!

However recently, we eat "Ehomaki" on Setsubun.

A lucky direction is decided everyyear.

We look in that direction and eat "Ehomaki" silently.

We do we do that recently?

It was the culture of west Japan.

But 7-11 popularized this tradition, and now every Japanese person knows this culture.

What do you think?

Unfortunately, the staff has a sales quota!

Some staff grumble on Twitter.

Thank you for reading :)
